The definition of standing still is going backwards

It’s so easy to set goals…The tricky part is actually REACHING those goals! Someone once told me, “A goal without a plan is just a dream.”

Life has taught me that this is absolutely true! Unless you have a path/strategy for success, and the determination to achieve your goals; your life, career, health, etc, will literally stand still and often decline.

There are a lot of workshops, videos, and books that discuss goal setting and attainment. We have had several webinars addressing Goal Setting as well.

In essence, it all boils down to a few actionable steps…

Step 1: SET YOUR GOALS- **EVERY ANSWER MUST BE IN WRITING

What do you want to achieve?

Examples: Make $300K GCI… Lose 10lbs…Work out more…Spend time with family…

In what timeframe?

How long will it take you…be specific…

What will success look like?

What are the measurable indicators?

Most importantlyWHY do you want this?? (What does success actually FEEL like?)

Step 2: CREATE YOUR ROADMAP- **EVERY ACTION MUST BE IN WRITING

How will I reach my goals?

What actions am I going to take?

Examples: Do profit-seeking (prospecting) 15 hours/week…Join Weight Watchers… Walk 5 miles everyday…

How will I hold myself accountable? (HUGE)

Step 3: TIME MANAGEMENT- **EVERY SCHEDULED EVENT/ACTION MUST BE IN WRITING

Your ENTIRE day must be scheduled and written into your calendar!!!! (Includes breaks, meals, sleep, etc).

Goal achievement/success is determined by how you spend your time each day.

If you don't control your time, you will find yourself procrastinating, and not achieving your goals. Procrastination is fear in disguise!!!

Think of TIME* this way:

Treasured: Time spent doing what you LOVE or what makes you HAPPY…

Investment: Time spent executing activities that will ensure that you achieve/exceed your goals…

Mandatory: Time spent on non-negotiable activities…

Empty: Time wasted or lost (procrastination)

*Adopted from Mike Schultz, Pres of the RAIN Group

The most important step to attaining your goals is taking the FIRST step! Remember, sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being one of the biggest steps in your life…

Have an amazingly productive week!
